Аннотация

This paper investigates innovative methods of English language instruction facilitated by artificial intelligence (AI) technologies within contemporary education systems. As global demand for English proficiency intensifies and learner populations become increasingly diverse, traditional one-size-fits-all pedagogical approaches prove insufficient to address individual learning trajectories, motivational deficits, and communicative competence gaps. The study systematically examines a range of AI-driven instructional tools, including natural language processing (NLP)-based chatbots, automated writing evaluation (AWE) systems, adaptive learning platforms, intelligent tutoring systems (ITS), speech recognition engines for oral fluency development, and sentiment analytics for real-time learner engagement monitoring. A mixed-methods experimental study conducted with 320 university students across four semesters demonstrated that AI-assisted English language teaching (ELT) cohorts outperformed control groups by an average of 31.4 percentage points across six core competency dimensions: reading comprehension, writing proficiency, speaking fluency, vocabulary retention, grammar accuracy, and learner motivation. The paper further discusses ethical considerations, data privacy concerns, and teacher professional development requirements associated with AI integration, ultimately proposing a scalable hybrid human–AI pedagogical model for English language education in Uzbekistan and comparable emerging-economy contexts.
